Joan E. Kirkland passed away on June 23, 2024 at Elderwood at Lockport, in Lockport, New York.  Joan was born on July 31, 1943, in Buffalo, NY to Raymond and Ruth (Campbell) Greene. She graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo and worked as a tax accountant for New York State. Joan's passion was as a breeder, exhibitor and AKC judge of collies. She had many champion AKC collies, representing her kennel of Kirkhaven Collies. She had been a Collie Club of America district director for many years and was a very active member of the Collie Club of WNY.

Joan is survived by her daughter Michelle (Tom) Walsh and step-son Timothy (Susan) Kirkland;  grandchildren, Amanda Walsh, Rob, Tyler and Scott Smith, and Anastasia Kirkland; three great grandchildren and her sister, Cheryl Green-Clancey of Oregon. She had many loving friends, near and far.  She was preceded in death by her beloved  husband, Martin (4/11/22); and her two sons Larry and Wayne Smith.

While our hearts mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that Joan is no longer suffering.  Her memory will live on in those she loved.
