Obituary of Robert Austin

Robert L. Austin passed away suddenly July 25, 2011. Born March 2, 1934 in Ransomville he was the son of the late Fred T. and Marjorie (nee Drinkwalter) Austin. Robert worked Frontier Stone, now known as LaFarge Quarry, Lockport where he was an operating engineer 1957 to 1991. He was a member of the Local 463 Operating Engineers in Ransomville for 40 years and he enjoyed watching the local trains and playing BINGO. Robert was predeceased by his wife Marie (nee Marisa) Austin on August 13, 2000.
Robert is survived by his children William (Pamela) Austin of North Tonawanda, David (Julie) Austin and Marjorie (Gary) Haimerl both of Lockport; grandfather of Matthew, Dana, Katie, Jillian, Ryan, Emilee, Joshua (Sara) Austin, and Christie (Aaron) Slack; step grandfather of A.J. and Nicholas Matteliano; brother of Patricia (late Clint) Bailey of Portville, Jane (late Paul) Guinn of Middleport, Richard (Barbara) Austin, Neil Austin, Carl (Cindy) Austin all of Barker, Clyde (Mary) Austin of Lockport, David (Nancy) Austin of Colorado and the late Norman (Grace) Austin and Susan Austin; also survived by his loving dog Sammy and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM. Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery. Visit www.pruddenandkandt.com.
