Brian W. Wentland entered into rest on May 7, 2024. Born August 14, 1975 in Lockport, he is the son of David and Marcia Wentland. He served 20 years with the Lockport Police Department as a decorated police officer. During that time, he rose through the ranks of Lieutenant Detective, Lieutenant Captain, and retired as Detective Captain. Throughout his law enforcement career, he received numerous awards and honors, including the Medal of Valor from the city of Lockport, and served as a team leader of the Niagara County Sheriff’s emergency response team. He held many leadership roles such as Firearms Instructor, FTO, NCLEA Instructor, and FBI Academy Graduate. Although he had many professional accomplishments, his proudest achievement in life was being a father and husband.

Brian loved traveling with his family, campfires, fishing and the outdoors. He was a natural leader, always willing to give guidance and never missed a chance to share his humor and wit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Brian is survived by his parents David and Marcia (Riley) Wentland, his wife Sarah (Brown) Wentland, children Payton, Bailey, Brian, and Gianna; brother Aaron (Cheryl) Wentland; several nieces and nephews.
