Obituary of Barbara J. Wasik
Wasik, Barbara (nee Gaylord) passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2024. Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Frank S. Wasik; dearest mother of Debra (Bill) Hopkins, Diane (David “Jake”) Reed, David (Melissa) Wasik, Michael (Tara) Wasik and the late Frank T. Wasik; cherished grandmother of Emily Reed, Brooke Wasik, Natalie Wasik, Cameron Wasik and the late Benjamin Wasik. Barbara is survived by her brother Richard (Carolyn) Gaylord and many loving nieces and nephews, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jane P. and Robert M. Gaylord, sister Nancy (John) Williamson and brother Robert (survived by Sheila) Gaylord.
Barbara was a life-long animal lover and met her husband Frank through her love of horses. She bred and raised quality English Mastiffs. In addition to raising her children, she immensely enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara was a loving and caring mother figure to many. As well as working on the family farm, she held jobs at Eastman Kodak, as a supervisor at Wimbledon’s food truck service, and most notably was the first woman union carpenter of Buffalo Local Union No. 374.
The family will be present Tuesday, April 9th from 4 to 7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY where funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10th at 10 AM. Interment will be in Wheatfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 or at www.niagarahospice.org would be appreciated.
