Obituary of Shannon John Kennedy

Shannon J. Kennedy passed away February 3, 2024 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.  Born in Buffalo June 9, 1942 he was the son of Kenneth P. and Evelyn (Clare) Kennedy.  He served in the US Army from 1964-1966 and was stationed near Saigon during the Vietnam War.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Buffalo State and taught Industrial Arts for 3 years.  He retired in 2003 after serving for 32 years as a Niagara County Deputy Sheriff.  Shannon also was a real estate broker for over 45 years and worked at Hunt Real Estate.

Shannon was an active member of St. Mary’s RC Church in Lockport where he served on the Parish Council, Building Committee, was a lector, and was on the Pastoral Care Team at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital for many years.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 319 and served as a Faithfull Scribe.  He also became a member of the Fourth Degree.  Shannon was a proud supporter of the American Legion, VFW, and the Vietnam Vets.

Shannon enjoyed hunting, fishing, working out, visiting Disney World, camping at Rushford and Alleghany State Park in his later years, riding a scooter around the neighborhood.  His family always came first.

Shannon is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Leonard) Kennedy; children Kellene Morris, John (Heidi) Kennedy, and Taryn (Shaun) Reynolds; grandchildren Liam and Thomas Kennedy, Ryann Morris, and Adalynn, Amelia, and Tyler Reynolds; siblings Patricia (David) Schank, Maureen (Kent) Covey, Terrence (Laura) Kennedy, and the late Kevin Kennedy; in-laws Rosemary (late Peter) McQueen and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, February 9^th from 4-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 10^th at 10:30 AM at All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport.  Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.  Donations to DeSales Catholic School would be appreciated by the family.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
