Obituary of Frank S. Wasik
Frank S. Wasik passed away peacefully at Niagara Hospice surrounded by his loving family on January 9, 2024. Born October 9, 1928 in North Tonawanda, the son of the late George and Karolina (Sidor) Wasik. Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara (nee Gaylord) Wasik and children Debra (Bill) Hopkins. Diane (David "Jake") Reed, David (Melissa) Wasik, and Michael (Tara) Wasik; his grandchildren Emily Reed, Brooke & Cameron Wasik, and Natalie Wasik. He was predeceased and joined in heaven with his son Frank T Wasik, grandson Benjamin Wasik, and siblings Miron (Nova), Mitchell "Mac" (Helen), Edward, and Viola "Jane" (Fred) Burkhardt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Frank was a lifelong cattle farmer and horse dealer, who bred and raised Brahman cattle, Quarter horses and Belgian work horses. He had a deep love of farming and animals. Frank was also a founding member of the Niagara Frontier Draft Horse Club. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion, serving in the US Army combat veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953-1955. Following his honorable discharge, Frank resumed farming fulltime and opened his farm to horse boarding and started a career as a truck driver at Frank's Vacuum Service.
Frank's greatest joy was his family, who will miss him dearly. The family would like to thank Niagara Hospice for its wonderful care.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, January 11th from 4-7 PM at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Friday, January 12th at 10 AM.
