Obituary of Sarah Bellomo

Sarah R. Bellomo passed away June 27, 2011 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born March 16, 1922 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada she was the daughter of the late Diego R. and Cologera (Lodico) Morreale. Sarah worked for Singer Sewing Co. for 10 years in sales and teaching sewing lessons and also for Sears in both Lockport and Eastern Hills Mall where she was a manager in sales for 20 years retiring in 1985. A local artist she enjoyed painting especially the local canal scenes, local churches and barns. Sarah was a long time member of the Niagara Arts Guild for over 50 years and she also belonged to St. Brendan's-On-The-Lake Roman Catholic Faith Community, Newfane. Besides art Sarah also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, ballroom dancing and classical music and opera. She was predeceased by her husband Russell C. Bellomo in 1985.
Sarah is survived by her four daughters Josephine (Paul) Hossenlopp, Michele (Michael) Cleary both of Florida, Louise (William) Sherman of Arizona, and Angela (Daniel) Hahn of Lockport; grandmother of nine, great grandmother of fourteen and step-grandmother of two.
There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM in St. Brendan's-On-The-Lake, 3455 Ewings Rd., Newfane. A memorial service will be held at the Lockport Presbyterian Home at later date. Private interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery. Donations to the Lockport Presbyterian Home, 305-327 High St., Lockport, NY 14094 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated by the family.
