Obituary of Daniel Joseph Gritzmacher
Daniel J. Gritzmacher passed away on Friday August 4, 2023. Born in Lockport on August 16, 1937, he was the son of the late Albert D. and Frances (Geser) Gritzmacher. Daniel was a DeSales Catholic High School alumni. Daniel served in the National Guard and worked in production for Harrison Radiator. After he retired, Daniel developed an interest in woodworking. He was an avid Yankees fan and in his later years never missed watching a game. He was also a fan of the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed listening to Bluegrass and Country music. When Daniel’s grandchildren came to visit, his skill and competitive side came out for a round of croquet.
He is predeceased by his wife Ruth (nee Robertson) Gritzmacher who passed away December 5, 2019, and his siblings Eunice Brown, Dudley Gritzmacher and Albert Gritzmacher.
He is survived by his children Dale (Stephanie) Gritzmacher, David Gritzmacher, Shirley (Norm) Pollock, Daniel (Rita) Gritzmacher, Jr., and Ruth (Tim) Williams; grandchildren, Makenna, Brecken, Dania, Joshua, Caylee, Jeremy, Olivia, Natalie, Jenna, Anna, Joy, Grace, Jack, and Andre; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday Aug. 10th 4-7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held on Friday Aug. 11th at 10 AM. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Online Condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
