Obituary of Janet Louise Rockwood

Janet Rockwood of Lockport, NY entered into rest Tuesday, May 23, 2023.  Born on August 10, 1921 just months shy of her 102^nd birthday.  The daughter of Orren and Catherine (Rankie) Rockwood.  Janet worked for General Motors from 1941 – 1981.  After retiring she was very active volunteering for Meals on Wheels and The Sister Mary Loretto Community Soup Kitchen.  She also spent time volunteering at The Dale Association in Lockport and participated in the HISTOP program where she shared stories of her life with school children.  Janet enjoyed bowling, ceramics, traveling, and especially loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her brothers Floyd (Dorothy), Duane (Evelyn), LaVerne, and great nephew Christopher.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Donna, her nieces Patricia and Kristi (Doug), and nephews Robert (Karen), Thomas (Amy), Peter (Gabriella), Paul (Amy), James, Richard (Stephanie), Jack, and Jeremy.  She is also survived by great nieces and nephews Michael (Haley), Rebecca (Brandon), Alexandra (Alexander), Francesca (Daniel), Elija, Aiden, Joe, Lauren, Belle, and great-great nephews Owen and Cole.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, May 26^th from 4-7 PM with services following at 7 PM all in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sister Mary Loretto Community Soup Kitchen.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
