I remember Robert stayed out in the hot sun with me one afternoon, serving popcorn, and snowcones to the kids at Willow Park. It was the last day of the summer youth program and he was a trooper. But I also remember him saying these kids need a whooping And then him and I just laughed so hard. I told him Robert you can’t be going around whooping peoples kids. He said well somebody need to whoop them. He was a gentle soul and now he’s at peace. Rest well my friend

My Brother Robert, you left the Sunshine State and relocated to Lockport New York in October of 1992. That means you made this your home for 30 years and 8 months. When you arrived in Lockport, you let everybody know, my name is Bob McClain, I'm from Eatonville Florida, one of this country's originally all black owned and operated townships. The complex were I lived and ruled is named Chocolate City. We have endured through everything together, no matter matter what. Words cannot express how much I will miss you, no more 6:00 a.m. phone calls"Skeebo time for you to go to work" No more of you hogging the TV on the holidays to watch football, no more late night runs to Walmart just to buy candy and Pepsi. I will never forget how you stepped in and helped me at one of the most critical times in my life, for that I will be eternally grateful. Your family and friends loved you, more than I think you could ever comprehend. The world will know your legacy. Robert McClain was one of the best football players out of Orlando Florida, secured a full ride to Florida State University. Had the most gentle hand with our most vulnerable individuals, the best to ever work with special needs. Your love and tender touch for Oscar and Pebbles, gave us all a glimpse into the heart and soul of your tough exterior. You were a left-handed intellectual, I don't think most people understood how truly smart you were, I will say painting was a disaster for you, old lefty. I will forever say the six of us, Joyce, Kathy, Robert, Russell Jr, Shelia and Lisa. From the childhood memories of running down the dirt roads in Leesburg Florida to running through the orchards in Appleton New York, you will remain alive in my heart. As we close the last chapter of his life, let it be known that Bob McClain was set free. In his words
" Nano, Nano, I'm out Skeebo"
I will love you forever Robert ❤️

Q: What will you never forget about Robert?
A: Every time I saw Robert, no matter where I was, he was so happy to see me. I can still hear him saying my name so sweetly, “Wendy.” He had the best smile and the kindest heart with everyone. He was amazing with students and cared in such a deep manner. I will miss him greatly.

As long as I have known, Robert, his two major loves in life were number one, his family, and number to his career. Robert loved what he did for a living, which was work with children and adults with disabilities. He thrived at what he did And truly made an impact and so many lives. Robert had a lot of great attributes. He has a big piece of my heart and always will.
I was always envious of the amazing family that Robert came from. And the McClain family is supportive and strong, and looks out for one another. I feel blessed to have been a part of their family. I love you, Robert and until we meet again.
