Obituary of Donald H. Walter
Donald H. Walter passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1933 in Buffalo, New York, son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Brucker) Walter. Don proudly served our country in the United States Army and supported many veterans organizations in his lifetime. He was an Assistant Traffic Engineer for the City of Buffalo DOT for 32 years, retiring in 1988. Don was a member of the Theta Tau Fraternity for Engineers at UB, where he attended college. He enjoyed researching and completing his family’s genealogy, as well as attending air shows and building model airplanes. Don was a railroad enthusiast, taking many train trips and was an avid collector of Lionel trains.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Sonia (Granville) Walter; proud father of Roderick Walter, Michael (Jean) Walter and Lynn (Russ) Hugenschmidt; cherished Papa of Jordan, Jenna and Jake Hugenschmidt.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 24 from 11am-2pm at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2pm.
