Obituary of Mary Louise Chamberlain
Mary Louise Chamberlain passed away January 30, 2023 in Lockport Rehab & Health Care Center. Born September 27, 1937 in Lockport, she was the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Peters) Layer. Mary Lou graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Lockport and Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan with a degree in mathematics. She worked briefly as a math teacher prior to joining Niagara County Social Services as a financial investigator. In 1958 she married David Chamberlain. Mary Lou was a bookkeeper and office manager for her husband’s business, DR Chamberlain Corp for many years. Mary Lou was known for her love of flowers and floral arranging. She was a master floral judge and a member of local garden clubs and often volunteered to teach others her craft. Mary Lou was a past board member at the Lockport YWCA and Lockport College Womens Club and volunteered with the Kenan Center. She shared her enjoyment of skiing and sailing with her family and was a member of the the Holimont Ski Club and several yacht clubs.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 59 years David Chamberlain; children Michael D. (Cynthia) Chamberlain and Lara J. Chamberlain. She is also survived by her sister Jean Conley of Cape Elizabeth, ME.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, February 2 from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 3 at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
