Obituary of James E. Schlemmer

James E. Schlemmer passed away January 7, 2023 in Buffalo General Medical Center.  Born October 16, 1944 in Buffalo he was the son of James E. and Eleanor (Piontek) Schlemmer.  James worked in service and sales. He was a 50+ year member of the Wendelville Volunteer and Bellevue Fire Company. He also served on the Board of Appeals for the Town of Pendleton.  James enjoyed NHRA and NASCAR. He raced the “Coyote” at Lancaster with his brother Cliff. He was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

James is survived by his wife of 58 years Dorothy (Schreiber) Schlemmer; children James (Cherilynn) Schlemmer, Dawn Maiolo (Jeff), and Lynnai (Carmen) Jacus; grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie), Derek (Danielle), Joel (Andrea), James III, Emily (Ron), Joshua (Alycia), Justin, Jessica, and Tyler.; great grandfather of Liam, Marissa, Logan, Lilly, Amelia, and Blake; siblings Cheryl Hare, Lynn Schlemmer, and late Clifford Schlemmer; also several brother and sister in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Saturday, January 14th from 2-4 PM with services following at 4 PM all in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Wendelville Fire Company, 7340 Campbell Blvd., North Tonawanda, NY 14120 would be appreciated.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
