Obituary of Helen F. Zimmerman

Helen Flora (Greth) Zimmerman, a longtime resident of Badger Drive, Lockport New York, passed away on December 2^nd 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side. 

Born on December 25^th 1927 of the late Arthur and Kathleen (Porter) Greth.  Helen was born in Baltimore, Maryland.  She attended Eastern High School and continued her studies at The Maryland Institute College of Arts.  Helen taught Ballroom dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in downtown Baltimore.  It is here she met her beloved late husband Frederick Zimmerman of 70 years.  Helen relocated to Lockport New York with her husband, where they raised their three children.  Helen had an artistic touch.  She enjoyed painting, sewing, doll making, and crocheting.  But what she enjoyed the most was spending time in her gardens. 

She is predeceased by her husband Frederick Zimmerman and her grandson Evan J. Shugats.

Helen is survived by her daughters Joan Rukowicz (Richard) of Fallston, MD and Carol Fournier (Paul) of Lockport, NY, and son Douglas Zimmerman of Lockport, NY; nine grandchildren, Christin Pasquinelli (Paul), Lauren Wilde (Chris), Stefan Rukowicz (Stephanie), Erik Zimmerman (Shannan), Heather Rhinehart (Brett), Jamie Johnston (Chris), Marissa Chandler (Ryan), and Justin Zimmerman (Jocelyn); and 22 great grandchildren.

There will be no prior visitation.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday December 10^th  at 11 AM in First Presbyterian Church, 21 Church Street, Lockport.   The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of donations to the Niagara Hospice, Inc. 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport NY 14094-1231.
