Obituary of Kenneth Newman

Kenneth M. Newman passed away Friday April 29, 2011, in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born November 6, 1916 in Royalton, he was the son of the late Edwin and Emma Whitthun Newman. Ken served in the US Army during World War II in the 3rd Armored's 703rd Tank Destroyer Battalion from 1942 until 1945. Upon returning home from the war, Ken returned to work for Harrison Radiator as a Millwright, where he worked for 42 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed auto racing. Ken is predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Mahar) Newman, who passed away June 26, 2007.
He is survived by his children Elizabeth Ann (Michael) Crawford of North Chili, NY, Philip (Kathy) Newman of Lockport, Mary Margaret (Richard) Conley of Lockport, Marcia (James) Puchlerz of Cambria, Helen (David) Marker of Lockport, Cynthia (Fred) Haun of Gasport, Denise (David) Washburn of Lexington, KY. and Thomas Newman of Lockport. Ken is also survived by his sister Helen (late Don) Seelow of Lockport, 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and several nieces.
Friends may call Tuesday 3 to 7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Patrick's R.C. Church, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to the church would be appreciated by the family.
