Obituary of Joan K. McElheney
Joan K. McElheney passed away October 3, 2022 in Elderwood at Lockport. Born February 20, 1939 in Buffalo she was the daughter of Howard and Myrle (Blyberg) Herald. Joan was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lockport where she belonged to the UMC Women, the UMC Choir, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and several other groups as well. She volunteered at the Salvation Army, Beechwood Nursing Home, and also the Buffalo City Mission. Joan enjoyed singing and playing the piano.
Joan is survived by her husband of 45 years Wallace “Wally” McElheney; children Richard (Katya) Sylvester, Christian Sylvester, and Beth (Michael) Conrad; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers Howard, William, and Richard Herald.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, Oct. 6th from 4-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 7th at 10 AM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
