Obituary of Virginia K. Johnston

Virginia K. Johnston passed away July 30, 2022 under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born July 28, 1935 in Buffalo she was the daughter of Clarence and Virginia (Both) Schwach.  Virginia was predeceased by her husband James H. Johnston on June 30, 2019.  She was the secretary for the graduating Class of 1953 from Newfane High School, served on the Board of YWCA for many years, was active with the 4-H Leadership, and volunteered at DeSales Catholic School.  But above all Virginia especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Virginia is survived by her children Maureen (Edward) Turkowski, Diane (Mark) DeCracker, Elaine (Thomas) Brady, Martin Johnston, and Daniel Johnston;  grandchildren Jocelyn, Alexandra, Jessica, Colleen, Hannah, Laura, Molly, Andrew, Adam; great grandchildren Anderson, Callan, Briana, Elisha, Emerson, Harper, Henry and Rosalie; siblings Mary Clare (late Lou) Knoble, Jerry Schwach and Sister Claire Schwach, SSMN.  She also survived by several neighbors and lifelong friends.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, August 3rd from 4-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 4th at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport.  Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials to DeSales Catholic School or Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
