Obituary of Antonino Pellicano
Antonino “Nino” Pellicano (87), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 4th, 2022. Antonino was the son of the late Domenico and Mariangela Pellicano. He was born on May 31st, 1935 in Rosario Valanidi, Reggio Calabria, Italy – where he met his devoted wife of 65 years, Fortunata Falduto. Antonino, with his wife and two eldest children, immigrated to the United States in April 1966 where they proudly made Lockport, NY their home.
Antonino worked at Tops Friendly Market as a produce manager for twenty years. After retirement, he worked part-time at Niagara County Produce and Save-A-Lot. Antonino was a member of the Lockport Bocce Club, Italian-American Club, and was of third-degree rank in the Knights of Columbus Council 319. He enjoyed making homemade wine, playing bocce or cards, and appreciated a quality cigar. Nino raised and nurtured a fruitful garden and fig trees for over two decades. Above all, he was the happiest when surrounded by family; his grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life.
Antonino is survived by his wife: Fortunata (Falduto) Pellicano; his five children: Mariangela (late Craig) Smith, Domenico (Anita Terranova) Pellicano, Carmela (Douglas) Haak, Saverio Pellicano, and Vincenzo (Maria) Pellicano; his grandchildren: Mark (Brittny) Smith, Matthew (Marissa Olsen) Smith, Victoria Haak, Anthony Haak, Samantha Pellicano, Jared Pellicano, Antonino Pellicano; and his great grandchildren: Sophia and Sonya Smith.
Antonino is the dear brother of: Francesco (Maria) Pellicano, Paul (Lynn) Pellicano, Antoinette (Michael) Molinaro, Marianna Pellicano; and of the late Vincenzo (Lavinia) Pellicano, Stefano (Lydia) Pellicano, Peter (Emily) Pellicano, and Mario Pellicano. He is the brother-in-law of Carmelo (late Maria) Falduto, and of the late Giovanna (Giovanni) Meduri, and Carmela Battaglia. Antonino is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, June 7th from 4 to 7PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 8th at 10AM at All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport, NY. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Kidney Foundation of Western New York.
