Obituary of Sarah Maiorana
Sarah Maiorana passed on April 8, 2022 into the hands of our Blessed Lord God and into the arms of all who were waiting to embrace her again. She was born on May 14, 1917 to parents Salvatore and Rosaria (Sanmarco) Maiorana, immigrants from Sicily who settled in Lockport, NY. Sarah was the middle child of five sisters. She is pre deceased by Carmella (Joseph) Scotch, Bertha (Salvatore) Ruggeri, Joanne Maiorana and Mary (Emilio) D’Amico. She is survived by her nephew Anthony “Doc” (Carol) Ruggeri, Boca Raton, FL who considered her his second mother. She is also survived by her nieces Patricia (Warren) Hopkins Swampscott, MA, Maria (Dennis) Miller, Elizabeth (Joseph) Santini and Karen D’Amico and her goddaughter Camille (John) Pasceri all of Lockport.
Sarah was employed at Harrison Radiator for 31 years and when she began her career on July 27, 1942 the company was making flares for the war effort. She retired in 1974 and moved to FL 10 years later where she lived for the remainder of her life. Sarah was a gentle spirit, a true lady in every sense of the word, a devout Catholic and a staunch Democrat. She volunteered her time at St. Ambrose parish in Deerfield Beach and hand made over 20,000 rosary beads to send to the missions. Baking and gardening were her great pleasures. She was healthy her entire life and spent countless hours praying for those less fortunate. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
