Obituary of Elston R. Silversmith
Elston R. Silversmith was born October 27, 1938 in Ohsweken, Ontario Canada to Gordon and Marie Silversmith. Elston was a proud member of the Lower Cayuga Tribe of Six Nations Reservation. Over the years Elston worked at a variety of jobs, including auto mechanic, carpentry, and as a farm laborer for many farms in Niagara County. Elston enjoyed the outdoors, engaging with nature. For him everything had life, everyone a purpose. Elston enjoyed hockey, lacrosse, baseball, Bingo, crossword puzzles, reading and animals. He loved cats and dogs especially his dog Bella.
In his latter years Elston enjoyed long car rides and spending days browsing through stores and reminiscing about younger days.
Elston was predeceased by his true love Cynthia Fitzgerald with whom he shared his life with for over 30 years; sister Sharlene Silversmith; sons Dale Silversmith, Eric (Candy) Smith; great grandson Barrett Silversmith. He is survived by Brian (late Loretta) Silversmith, Graham "Buck" Silversmith , Lyle (Bernice) Silversmith, Ricky (Kathy Laforme) Silversmith, Tracey (Kirby Johnson) Silversmith, Andrew (Donna) Smith, Catharine Jarka; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 brother, two nieces and one nephew. Elston will be deeply missed by his devoted friend Rona “Chop” Styres and his “buddy” Stone (Peanut) Styres.
