Obituary of John W. Fura
John W. “Barney” Fura passed away Friday February 4, 2022. Born in Lockport on December 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Fabian) Fura. Barney worked in production at Harrison Radiator for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a longtime member of the YMCA and enjoyed camping, farming, gardening, walking, biking, playing racquetball, he coached both Lockport Little League and Lockport Little Loop, but most importantly enjoyed spending time with his adoring grandchildren. Barney was predeceased by his wife, Jean (nee Pusateri) Fura, who passed away on October 31, 2021.
Barney is survived by his children Christopher Fura, Robert Fura, Alicia (James) Adamczyk, MaryJo (Charles) LaRose, and Jennifer (Mark) Bucholtz; grandchildren Kristi, Kiana, Nathan, Nicole, Christopher, Megan, Brianna, Kaitlynn, Nicholas, and the late Ashley and Mitchell; great granddaughter Bonnie Jean; siblings William (Cathy) Fura, Edward (Bruce) Fura, Catherine (late James) Behm, Nellie (late Wayne) Haseley, Christine (Carol Dettbarn) Fura and the late Joseph Fura, Mary Ann (late Jose) Quintana and Agnes (late Ray) Townsend.
Friends may call on Tuesday February 8th 4-7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 9th at 10 AM at All Saints Parish Oratory, 391 Market Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
