Obituary of Glenn Benedict

Glenn H. Benedict passed away March 25, 2011 in Niagara Hospice House. Born October 17, 1929 in Lockport he was the son of Ward and Walberga (Giebel) Benedict. Glenn was a lifelong resident of Lockport and the owner of the Glenn H. Benedict Construction Company which he operated for over 60 years. He had a passion for designing, building, and remodeling. A few of his accomplishments were, the South Lockport Fire Hall, East Avenue Vision Center, and St. Bridget's Church in Newfane to name a few. Glenn had a turn key operation and did many renovations and remodeling projects in and around the area. He was a member of the Clinton Club, the Shriners and past president of the Tuscarora Club. Glenn is survived by his wife Barbara (Jaromin) Benedict whom he married June 10, 1988; father of Glenn D. Benedict of California, Judy Evert of Lockport, Debra (Tom) Braunscheidel of North Carolina, Clara Grimley, Douglas Benedict and Dudley (Laurie) Benedict all of Lockport; step-father of Rick (Natalie) Simonick of Arizona, Amy (David) Hammell of Boston, NY and Janice (Peter) Malyak of Connecticut; grandfather of 16 and great grandfather of five; brother of the late Joe (late Evelyn) Benedict, late Catherine (late Ernest) Sloss, late Delos (Molly) Benedict, late Earl (Elizabeth) Benedict, late Ward Benedict, late Norman (late Carol) Benedict, late Orlo (Jessica) Benedict; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, March 31st from 3-7 PM in Prudden &amp; Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1st at 10 AM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated.
