Paul E. Burns, of Barker, passed away March 14, 2011 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. Born March 6, 1933 in Barker he was the son of James and Mary (Lewis) Burns. Paul served in the US Army from 1953 to 1954 earning the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for 41 years at Harrison Radiator Div. of G.M. where he was a traffic manager retiring in 1991. Paul was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Barker where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 319 and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife Audrey (Fels) Burns of Barker; his loving children Kathleen (Emil) DiNardo of Williamsville, John (Debbie) Burns of Lancaster, Mark Burns of Barker, Nancy (Michael) Notarius of Clarence, Linda (Todd) Senay of East Amherst, Marie (Arman) Afshani of Clarence and Valerie (Kevin) Wagner of Williamsville; cherished grandfather of Joseph, Elizabeth, Emil Jr. DiNardo, Taylor Burns, Jessica and Nicholas Notarius, Tyler, Emily, Jenna and Madison Senay, Ariana and Ethan Afshani, Connor and Allyson Wagner; dearest brother of Robert Burns of Martinsville, VA and James Eugene (Mary) Burns of Lockport; also several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Lake at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 1726 Quaker Rd., Barker, NY. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in Paul's memory to the church would be appreciated by the family.
