Obituary of David C. Caldwell
David “Fish” Charles Caldwell, age 63, of Gasport, N.Y. passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 4, 2021, after a brief illness. David graduated from Lockport High School and SUNY Oswego. He was the owner of Wolfe Lumber Mill in Gasport, NY. David was an avid history buff, serving as President/Board Chair of both the Old Ft. Niagara Association and the Niagara County Historical Society. He collected books on history and biography of the United States, Canada and Great Britain with an emphasis on New York and the Niagara Frontier.
David is survived by Kim Johnson, his long-time companion and her family; his parents, Robert and Christa (nee Roberts) Caldwell, a sister Sandra (Ernest) Lawrence, a brother Bruce Caldwell, and an uncle Charles B. Roberts. Also surviving him are a niece Amanda (Christopher) Schaus, a nephew Andrew (Tarah) Lawrence, a great-niece Esme Schaus, his great-nephews Gavyn and Santiago Schaus, and his Florida relatives; aunts Barbara Mills, Diane Hiborik, and Karen Abel, and uncles James and Brian Caldwell; also survived by numerous cousins.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 1 – 4 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. in Lockport. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 9, at 3 PM at the Old Fort Niagara French Castle in Youngstown, NY, with a reception to follow. Memorials may be made to Old Fort Niagara P.O.
