Obituary of Demetrio Sacca
Demetrio B. Sacca passed away July 20, 2021 in Elderwood at Lockport. Born June 5, 1922 in Lockport he was the son of Paul D. and Antonia (Rippe) Sacca. Demetrio graduated from Lockport Senior High School Class of 1940 and then served in the US Army from 1943-1946, serving in the Battles of Normandy, Northern Frances, and Rhineland. Demetrio was awarded the American Service Medal, EAME Service Medal, WW II Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. When he was discharged from the army Demetrio went to the University of Buffalo earning his B.S.M.E. graduating in 1950. He worked for Harrison Radiator Div of GM for 35 years where he retired January 1, 1985 as a Staff Research Scientist.
Demetrio was a member and past commodore of the Olcott Yacht Club, member and past director/past president of the International Order of the Blue Gavel which is an international past commodore organization, was the founder of the Mantel Club, an Olcott Yacht Club past commodore group, member of the Lockport Power Squadron, member of the Lockport Senior Citizens, and past member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
Besides his parents, Demetrio was also predeceased by his wife, Marilyn “Peg” (Myers) Sacca in 1998. He is survived by his sister Mary Weeks; uncle of David Chausse, Chris Chausse, Annette ( Chausse ) DeNies, and their families, and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, July 30th from 4-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31st at 10 AM.
