Obituary of George M. Ames
George M. Ames passed away July 16, 2021 in Niagara Hospice House. Born October 13, 1935 in Lockport he was the son of George H. and Mildred (Halbig) Ames. George graduated from DeSales Catholic High School Class of 1954. He owned and operated A & S Sew Vac in Lockport for 50 years retiring in 2020. George enjoyed hiking, was a train enthusiast, and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Buffalo Bills. Past member of the Newfane Lions Club. He was predeceased by his wife MaryLowe (Herbert) Ames on December 12, 2006.
George is survived by his children George H. (Deborah) Ames, Michelle (Kevin) Thompson, and Eileen (Joseph) Portanova; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce Ames; predeceased by brother Paul Ames.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, July 25th from 1-3 PM with services following at 3 PM all in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.
