Obituary of Darrell F. Mayer

Darrell F. Mayer passed away July 12, 2021 in Elderwood at Lockport.  Born February 26, 1932 in Stacyville, Iowa he was the son of Raymond and Clara (Hueman) Mayer.  Darrell worked for Neisner’s in Lockport where he was a general manager.  When that closed, he was a manager of Hill’s Dept. Store.  After he retired, he worked part-time at Sears.  His passions included woodworking, golfing, bowling, playing cards, and dancing at Klub 60 with his beloved wife.  Darrell was predeceased by his wife Lorene (Hackenmiller) Mayer on October 7, 2017.

Darrell is survived by his children Bruce (Linda) Mayer, Rhonda (Michael) Kearns, Cheryl (Philip) Carlisle, Renee (Alwyn) Cohall and Sheila (Andrew) LaMont; grandfather of fifteen and great grandfather of eight; brother Allan Mayer; sister-in-law Imelda Neis; also survived by several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers Romanus, Elmer, and Clarence Mayer

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, July 14th from 5-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 15th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.  Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY, 6215 Sheridan Dr., Suite 100, Buffalo, NY 14221 would be appreciated.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
