Deacon David L. Smith lit a candle

Father Deacon was such a good friend of me and my wife that it is hard for us to accept his passing. When I was a deacon for St. Johns-Grace, Father Deacon would occasionally be the celebrant of the Eucharist and I would serve with him during the mass. He would, at times, lose his place during the service and I would remind him of it so that he could continue. It was a great blessing to me that he would graciously accept my guidance and we could complete the service without anyone knowing what has happened...it was our "secret". My wife particularly liked to listen to his sermons for guidance in her decisions about life in general and about our life together in particular. Even though we haven't seen him in a couple of years, we will miss him as if we had spoken yesterday! May God's blessings be upon Father Deacon as he assumes his rightful place beside our God!

Patricia Zebrowski posted a condolence
Wednesday, June 2, 2021
My husband Carl & I came to know Charlie and his late wife, Ann, when he was the Interim Priest at St Peter's Episcopal in Longmeadow. I later came to know his wife Deborah when they religiously attended the Carillon Concert Series at Calvary Church in Williamsville. He was a supporter of the series and always wanted his hot dog well done with a whole wheat roll. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by all those at the churches he served and programs he was involved with. God Bless you Charlie and condolences to his wonderful wife Deborah who steadfastly stayed by his side during all of his challenges.
Love you, Patricia & Carl Zebrowski
