Obituary of Yolanda M. Sherriff
Yolanda “Lundy” Sherriff passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at Encore at Avalon Park Assisted Living Memory Care Unit in Orlando, FL, at the age of 92. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on December 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Domenico DiSanto and Giselda “Josephine” Porcaro. Lundy was the youngest of three; predeceased by her oldest brother Henry (Rita) DiSanto and husband of 34 years, Harry Sherriff. She is survived by her brother Angelo “Ang” (Joan) DiSanto. Lundy is also survived by her children, Todd Munsell and Renee (David) Perrington; grandchildren, Katrina (Mark) and Kade Perrington; great granddaughters, Veronika and Talia Leavens and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Richard (Maggie) Sherriff and family, Andrea O’Connor and family, and Nancy (late Robert) Dobkin and family.
Lundy graduated from Bryant and Stratton College and worked for Bell Aircraft in Wheatfield before working in the restaurant industry as a waitress in Lockport at the Fieldstone Restaurant, the Hunter’s Horn Restaurant, and in Niagara Falls at John’s Flaming Hearth for many years. She attended Good Shepherd Church in Pendleton. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed walking, gardening, crafting, sewing and bible study with her friends. Of course, like all good Italians, she loved cooking all meals from scratch in copious amounts and serving anyone and everyone that she deemed might be hungry! But most of all she loved taking care of her family. Her devotion as a Mother, Nana, aunt, cousin and friend to all made her who she was. She was loved by all and a true peacemaker. She forgave everyone for everything. Big or small. She was the glue that held the family together. Lundy was charismatic and animated to the end. She was loved by the entire staff on her Memory Care Unit and later by her Hospice Caretakers.
She lived a long loving life and she went out loving everyone just as she always had. She will truly be missed by us all. We have such great memories with her; so many stories. Her memory will live on forever! We love you mom!
