We would like to thank the family of Dr Muscato for allowing us to have him as our children's doctor for many years. We lived just across the street so we got to see him often so we grew to know him not only as a doctor but as a friend. We moved away more than 8 years ago but always made our way back to the area and to our suprise our baby girl remembered "that mean old man" that gave me shots. Well she knew he was not mean but that was how a 2-3 year old recalls things. May God comfort you all.

Dr. Muscato was the doctor for my family as well as my husbands, so when we had a family, it only made sense to have him as well. He was a wonderful man and a great doctor. My husband Gary almost died of bronchitis, when he was 6 months old. George came to the house and drove him to the hospital himself. He stayed with him all night - this was about 58 years ago, when he was a new MD. He also made house calls - he came to our house to see my sister - my Mom was sure she had the measles,, but he insisted on coming. He complained because he had to take a detour because of road work. My Dad whipped out a dollar and gave it to him, and never did get a bill for a housecall. And, my Mom delighted it telling George" I told you so". when he confirmed it was a case of the measles. Just one more fond memory - he was put on the pediatric floor when he fell off his horse and broke his leg. My sister was there at the times, having her tonsils out at the age of 18 or 19. George was a good guy and they don't make doctors like him anymore. All of the family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Muscato was my Pediatrician for my whole childhoon and I have such fond memories of him (even though that was well over 30 years ago). When I think of him I smile and remember him yelling, "Suzie!" And I remember the suckers! (Guess the new doctors don't give those out anymore.) He certainly loved children. I always felt like I was the one he was focused on when I was in his office. He had a way of making me feel like I was the "big person" in the room. My thoughts are with you at this time.

My sister left condolences from our family on the Gazette site but I felt a need to leave a personal condolence. I hardly know where to begin. "Doc" was the greatest doctor I've ever known. He was also one of the greatest people I've ever known. An office visit would go something like this... Dorothy, how the heck are ya! That's great. How's Dave and the other kids? Well that's good to hear. So what's up with Kevin today? Burned his hand on the stove? Well, how the hell'd that happen?! Jesus Christ Dort! What the hell were you thinking! You gota keep an eye on these kids when you're cooking! Ok, let's have a look. Hmm, that's pretty bad but it should be ok. I'm gonna give you a prescription for some ointment to put on it. Keep it wrapped with some gause for a week and bring him back and see me. And for God's sake, keep an eye on those kids while you cook! Ok, kiddo? And Kevin, don't forget your sucker on the way out. Yup, sometimes he could be a little gruff but it was always for the betterment of the family. It may have not been something you wanted to hear, but it was always straight forward and honest. A trait that's sorely lacking in today's world. At one time, I came down with something in my "well past pediatric years." I got an appointment to see the Doc. I went into the reception area of the office for my appointment and there were numerous pediatric age patients waiting to see him. I waited along with them. I got back to the exam room and the Doc comes in. Kevin! How the heck are ya? Pretty good except for what's going on with me right now. Doc? Don't you think it's time I found a new doctor now that I'm so much older? "I'll tell ya when you're too old to come see me!" Well, ok Doc. On another visit with one of my children, (yes, he was their "Doc" too. I'd have no other) he asked how my Mom and Dad were doing because they'd moved to Pennsylvania. So I told him pretty good as far as a phone call could tell you. "Well, whadaya mean by that?" I just haven't been able to take a trip down to see them. I've been struggling to keep up with the finances of life and my van's tires are about shot. I can't afford new ones right now. "Well what size tires are they?" SIxteen inch. Damn things are expensive. "Well, I tell ya what. I just happen to have a set of good 16 inch tires on rims that shoud fit your van at the house. I'll put them out by the garage. You come get those tires and put them on your van and go see your parents!" Oh, Doc, I couldn't do that. "The hell you can't! You come get those tires. All I want back is the rims." Ok, Doc. And that's what I did. We all went and visited my parents. I'v no Idea when I would have been able to do it on my own. That's the kind of guy he was. I'm sure that he'd done the same sort of things, and given the same kinds of medical and life advice for numerous families in Lockport. He was a rare bird. A very rare bird. Just this past weekend, we were up to visit my Mom and my Wife's relatives. Heading out of town on our way back to PA (we moved there too), we passed Doc's office on East Ave. I though for sure that it would be something else by now but Doc's sign was still attached to the building. We thought, "wow, he's still practicing? He was a great man. The greatest, and he contributed so much to the families and community of the Lockport area. He will be sorely missed by many. Doc, I think I'm finally too old to see you. My very heartfelt condolences to Sandy and the rest of the family. I know that this is a hard time. May you all find comfort in knowing that your Husband and Father was deeply loved and respected by many. May the lord be with you. I now have two grandchildren that I love deeply. I'll think of "Doc" every time I hug them or fix a Boo-boo. I know that he'll be looking over us.

What can we say about the man who cared for our 2 boys as they were growing up and as they entered adulthood.......... we trusted him completely and he never let us down! It actually became fun to have to take one of them in and perhaps have a "run-in" with George!! It was Dr. George who pierced my ears and then cared for the one that got infected! I loved him so much as he has done so much for me personally as well as my children during many, many rough times in our lives. I am feeling very bad about leaving town; I was totally unaware of his passing and just found out tonight and we am truly sorry for your loss. Dr. George was an amazing man and you should be very proud of his accomplishments because I am. He is absolutely one man I will NEVER forget as he gave me and my family so so much! God Bless You All! Be Proud! our prayers are with you! We will miss him terribly! I Love you Dr. George! Say hi to my mom sweetie! I'll miss you!!!

Hello, My name is Craig Colling. My office is next door to Dr. Muscato's office - in the Pope Law Office. For a 3 or 4 years now, I have had the pleasure of watching Dr. Muscato come and go - with his beautiful dog - from my office window. I have a large office window that faces west across Chapel St. toward Dr. Muscato's office. It's funny, I never did meet Dr. Muscato, but sense a considerable loss in not seeing him come and go each day with his dog. I first noticed Dr. Muscato because we both drove the same make & model automobile. We both drove those silly gas-guzzling big red Ford Expeditions. Shortly after noticing this small coincidence, I was immediately struck by this man's love for his dog, and by the similarities that I saw to my late Father. My Father was also was an aging MD, acting as a sole practitioner, working out of a home that was long-ago converted into a physician's office. Each day my dad would climb a half dozen steps up to the back door - after letting the dog run - and then disappear inside to start his day. He died 10 years ago this Summer. The parallel with Dr. Muscato was very heart-warming, and I was very saddened to see a lack of activity across Chapel St. and - subsequently to hear of his passing. I deeply regret not introducing myself to him - and I miss the joy of watching him each day with his dog. It truly saddens me each day, to look over there and see a still & empty building. I oddly feel a great void for someone I never took the opportunity to meet. In closing....I wish you - his family - the very best in dealing with - and working through - his death. I do hope that you somehow receive this message. I am very sad to see him "leave". Sincerely, Craig M. Colling
