I worked with Greg at the City of Lebanon. Greg was truly an unforgettable individual. We quickly bonded over our adopted cats and love of animals. His love for his wife and family was clearly evident and I admired his devotion to them. I continue to mourn the loss of Greg from this earth and will miss him always.

To Ruth and family:
I have had the privilege to work as a volunteer and as an elected official with hundreds of smart, dedicated and kind professionals from all over the country but working with Greg Lewis for the 4 ½ years he served as our Lebanon, NH City Manager was one of the highlights! Greg took a complex city and gave us a blueprint to move forward together. During his tenure, Lebanon was named “Best Small City in America.” Greg’s door was always open. He listened well. He made his view clear. He gave praise and credit to others. And he had the confidence to push back when he thought the city council was making an error. During those years, he taught me about the character of a nation and the modesty of a decorated hero. Besides being a hero himself, Greg had his own heroes. His mid-western, pioneer-strength blended well with that of hearty New Englanders. Greg loved Ruth, their children and his 4-legged “children” deeply. He leaves behind a void that his family and friends will find impossible to fill. I am thankful and privileged to have known him.
– Former Lebanon Mayor Georgia A. Tuttle

I "met" Greg when i was director of Black Hill Legal Services in Rapid City South Dakota in 1973 and his resume was one of dozens that we legal services directors were asked to choose from for getting a VISTA volunteer lawyer. Most were from the East Coast and I was sure that because they were applying to the Denver region (which included So. Dakota) they would think they were going to Denver. I noticed that Greg was from Hutchison KS -- Hell, I thought, if he can live in Hutchison, Rapid City SD would be a breeze. He turned out not only to be a smart, thoughtful and dedicated lawyer, but as fine a person as I ever have met. He was humble, kind, brave, and persistent. We have kept up over the years, mostly virtually and not as well as I should have, i am sure. I have a great memory of meeting up with him and Ruth in Lebanon NH when he was city manager there. He had not changed a bit in the intervening years. He was deeply in love with Ruth, proud of his children, and generous in all aspects of his life. My condolences to Ruth and his family. He was a lovely man and I know you will miss him profoundly. Pat and I have been following his travels, career and family for more than 45 years, and we are saddened to learn of his death.
Best wishes. Mike Wolff
