To all the Pitrellos-- Word reached me in our recent new home in New Mexico of "Tate's" passing. Truly a Lockport institution, I was cheered by the tribute wall and Mike Tucker's remembrance in the US&J. I used to deliver the Courier to his mom back in the '70's, and Tate's and my path crossed from time to time over many years. He was proud of Tracey's athletic ability and enabled me to give him a tennis lesson or two. You could not have asked for a more personable, dedicated guy who left his imprint on Lockport in so many ways. Ray Betsch coined the expression "Love Lockport" back in the '70's. Tate exemplified that. Please accept our deepest sympathies and our prayers from afar.

My mom baby sat Tate back in the day and I knew him all my life. He would give you his honest opinion about anything. Rip Tate.

So very sorry to hear about Tate. He was a good friend of ours. Hevv be was in our wedding . Mark has many stories they shared when they both worked at the board of education. This is very sad news to us but we will remember the joy he brought to both of us into all of Lockport!

Tate was a fixture in the neighborhood. Trusted and true. While his passing leaves a void in a world that needs people such as him, I am certain that his spirit grows forth in the seeds sown by his humanity. My condolences to you all. You do not have far to look to see him living still among you.

Tate loved his Lockport like few others. Very sorry to hear of his passing. He always had a positive word whenever we spoke. May you be comforted by the memories.

He was one of the good ones. When I was asked to serve on the Police Board, Tate took me under his wing. I learned a lot from him! I’ve known him since I was a little boy. He would stop at my house and sit on the porch with my parents. As I got older he always said Hello, every time I saw him. I always admired him, he always seemed to have known everyone, where they grew up and so on. As I got older, married and had a family of my own, he would call and ask how everyone was, my kids, my wife and my parents. I feel as though I was the fortunate one to have known him, and be friends with him. He was and is a legend, although he would never admit it! I will miss you Tate, truly! Rest In Peace my friend, you will be missed.

My condolences to Tracey and Tate’s family. Had the pleasure of coaching Tracey in high school hockey and great memories of chatting with Tate at rinks all over WNY. He was our unofficial program General Manager and a role all of us knew he relished. A genuine guy who always supported the kids of Lockport in good times and tough times. RIP Tate

Anyone who knew Tate has a special memory of him. I have many, but this is my personal favorite and one that exemplifies his personality! A few years ago he insisted on driving me to Roswell Hospital after a round of treatment. I left him in the waiting room while I visited the doctor. The clinic was crowded with several dozen people. When I returned to the waiting room he had "worked" the room, spoken to everyone there in the room, knew why they were there (visitor or patient), where they worked, their political leanings, and where they lived. When we left, they all knew his name and said good bye like they were long lost friends. We walked out of the room with me shaking my head and him just smiling! That was the kind of guy he was.
We were each lucky to be able to call him husband, dad, son, brother, neighbor, and friend! He will be remembered and will be missed.
Take care my friend until we meet again!!

I graduated with Tate. He was a great guy. When he worked for UPS he would make fun of me for getting so many packages. He said I was in competition with the lady down the street for deliveries. RIP Tate
