I worked with Jim at M/E since I joined in 2016. From the first job I worked with him on I was immediately drawn to his light hearted take on everything around him. He was an incredible problem solver, a mentor to me and someone I could always approach for a quick chat. It was a pleasure to be around him and I looked forward to opportunities when I got to work with him. He will be dearly missed, my thoughts and prayers are with Bobbie and the family.

Although Jim and I grew up less than two miles from each other, but since we did not go to the same school systems growing up, we first met in College at RIT. Once we met and realized we were not only from Lockport, but in the same program for Mechanical Engineering, we became good friends. I have always appreciated his sense of humor and willingness to step in and help people when needed. Due to work and eventually family demands, we both lost contact over the years, but I know through mutual contacts, he has been a significant leader and example to others in our profession.
I know he will be missed!

I worked with Jim at M/E Engineering since he started in 2005, and I was always struck by how much he wanted to help people - help young engineers learn, help solve problems, help lighten the mood. I knew if I had a problem that warranted an experienced solution, Jim was who I would seek out, and he never let me down. We will miss him tremendously.

I’ll always remember Jim for being a light-hearted guy who always cheered up a room with his sense of humor, and always being un-selfish to drop what he was doing to help and teach people.
I first met Jim during construction of the Finger Lakes Casino, where often he would walk through the jobsite with me as a young 20-something early in my career, teaching me constructability. Shortly after that he joined M/E Engineering, where I was working at the time, and was absolutely elated to learn he joined the team. He continued to give myself and anyone else who would listen his knowledge he gained over the years. I would not be the engineer I am today without Jim.
Jim shaped many peoples lives and careers. His passing is a tremendous loss to our industry and he will be missed by many.
Thank you Jim for taking the time out of your busy day so often, to help shape me into who I am today.

I'm am truly heartbroken to hear such sad news. My sincere condolences to Bobbie and family. Jim was a wonderful person, it was a privilege to work with him and an honor to know him. He always took the time to stop by your cubicle to say good morning and to be sure to tell a joke or two, you always had a smile on your face. He often talked about his wonderful wife and family and of course his dog. He truly was a great guy. He will be missed deeply. My thoughts and prayers with you.

I want to offer my most sincere condolence to Jim's Family. I worked with Jim on project's on the job site and I always felt so lucky to have worked along side a fantastic engineer who was so smart, knew his craft better than anyone, great humor and above all an honest, upstanding man you could always call a friend. After a long day on the job site (many years ago) seven of us (including Jim) got dinner at a local restaurant. Someone at our table told the waiter it was my birthday (It was not my birthday) and the waiter along with a local band sang happy birthday to me, it was so funny. I will always remember JIm's kindness and good humor because every year he would always remember to say happy birthday to me on that same day in honor of that very funny moment. I will truly miss Jim and will forever be great-full to have known him.

Bobbie,
Please accept our deepest sympathies to you and your family on the sudden passing of Jim.
I've worked with Jim on a number of projects since I began at M/E in 2007, particularly early in my career. He was a tremendous asset to the company with his vast construction knowledge. His perspective from having been a contractor for many years was invaluable in helping me evolve as a designer. He was in the field often, solving problems before word of them even reached the office. But most helpful of all, he held you accountable for your work, which continues to motivate me today to do the best job possible. Last but certainly not least was his unbelievable wit. He could easily break the tension with a good laugh during stressful situations all while moving things in a positive direction…and never one to shy away from a good hug! A friend, mentor and colleague who will be deeply missed.
Prayers for peace and comfort during this difficult time.
With love,
Philip, Audrey, John & Max Manzella

If ever there were person you could count on, it was Jim. A man of his word, honest, straightforward, intelligent and full of sass - he got the job done. As serious as he took his job and responsibilities, I never remember him letting anything get the better of him. He seemed to take everything in stride - challenges, problems, and successes - all in stride. Winning the "Humor Award" at work more than once, you could be sure he would leave you laughing and maybe a tad shocked as well - he was unpredictable that way - part of his charm, as he would often say. Jim was a guy who genuinely cared about people - pretty much everyone he met and no gesture was too small for him to remember and respond in kind. He has become a good friend, one who I have enormous respect and admiration for - I will miss so very much. Through his actions, he reminded me of the importance of being true to your word, that humor gets better results than anger, and that action is better than doing nothing - especially when it comes to caring for others. My sincere condolences to Bobbie, Paul, Julie, Sam and Alexa, his love and pride in his family was evident in every time he spoke of you - which was just about every day.

I met Jim for the first time at a project site about 40 years ago when we was working with his father . Even then, Jim had a great sense of humor and was just an overall likeable guy. One of the best problem solvers I have ever known. A true pleasure to be around, a great teacher, someone who could be counted on without question, and a heart of gold. You will be missed.

I am truly at a loss over the news of Jim's passing. I worked side by side with Jim for a few years. He taught me much of what I know today. We laughed and joked about pretty much everything. Random calls and texts just to say Hi even though he was 4 cubicals away. Jim and I and running joke that He was my uncle and I was his nephew. Most times it didn't feel like a joke, Jim was part of my family and would do anything for me. The world has lost a man like no other and will truly truly be missed. RIP Uncle Jim.
