David Christie Obituary

David E. Christie went home to be with the Lord January 27, 2011 under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born January 30, 1940 in Lockport he was the son of Lewis and Helen (Johnson) Christie. David served in the US Army from 1958 to 1961. He worked as a roll grinder at Simons Saw & Steel. David was a member of the Rapids Volunteer Fire Co., the American legion and also the Bargeman Barbershop Chorus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, restoring tractors and spending winters in Florida.


David is survived by his wife Gloria (Tiedt) Christie of Newfane; father of Michelle (Jeffrey) Smith, Julie (David) Austin, Scott Christie and the late Eric Christie; grandfather of Joshua (Sara) Austin, Christie (Aaron) Slack, Ryan Austin and Emilee Austin; brother of Audrey (late Jay) Roszman, Norma (late Floyd) Syahl, Robert (Sally) Christie, Sara (Thomas) Wittlinger and the late Gary (Joy) Christie; also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends may call Saturday 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in Grace Bible Church, 6023 Dutton Place, Newfane, NY 14108. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
