Obituary of Charles H. Black

Charles H. Black (Charlie), age 82, passed away at ECMC September 1st, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born September 30th, 1937 in Lackawana, NY to the late Otis and Nina Black.

He retired in 1999 from Harrison Radiator after 42 years of service as a Tool & Die Maker and Model  Maker. Charlie enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends. He also enjoyed classic cars, crossword puzzles, the Civil war, and WWII.

Charlie was a volunteer fireman from the age of 18 and was an exempt member of South Lockport Volunteer Fire Company where he served as Chief and Asst. Chief. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where he served on various committees.

Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon (DeFries) Black. Two cherished daughters Debora (Jeffrey) Lasal and Betsy Black; Grandchildren Kaitlyn and Christian Lasal; One brother Robert (Millie) Black; Brothers-in-law Harvey (Karen) DeFries, Duane (Sally) DeFries and Blaine DeFries; His nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He will always be remembered for his many jokes and stories.

Calling hours will be Saturday, September 5th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home in Lockport, NY (masks are required). In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations may be made to South Lockport Volunteer Fire Company or Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
