Obituary of Jean A. Gunkel
Jean A. Gunkel passed peacefully at home, at the age of 89 on August 14th 2020. She was born in Kenmore NY, on January 29th 1931; middle child of Frank W and Sally (Reynolds) Jackson.
Jean met her husband of 64 years, Richard, while working in the payroll department at Date’s Laundry. They were wed on August 4th 1956 in Kenmore. In 1970 she and her husband moved to Newfane NY where they purchased their forever home and raised their daughter together. After years of home making and volunteering as a librarian at the Catholic grade schools, Jean took over the accounting for her husbands home improvement business; Dicks Home Improvements, until the time of his retirement.
Jean was predeceased by her siblings Joan (Jackson) Maess and Thomas Jackson. She is survived by her loving husband Richard Gunkel; beloved daughter Laurie Gunkel; the two bright blessings of her life, her grandchildren Sarah and Jared Hahn; and several nieces and nephews.
