Obituary of Edward U. Shipley Jr.
Edward Upton Shipley, Jr.. passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family on the morning of June 23, 2020. He was a kind and loving man who was very devoted to his family.
Ed was born April 4th, 1953 to the late Edward and Mary Shipley. He enjoyed a long and happy marriage to his high school sweetheart Jan. They were just 3 days away from celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary. He worked hard his entire life and took pride in all that he accomplished. He worked at Harrison Radiator for most of his career, and was chosen to carry the millionth radiator for the press release. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed listening to Drum Corps, going on trips with his family, and attending baseball games. But most of all, he loved just spending time laughing and talking with his family.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be forever remembered by his wife Jan, and their children Katie (Christopher) Reith, Erin Shipley (Michael Calos), and Brian Shipley. He was a beloved Grandpa to Stella Calos, whom he cherished. He is also survived by his brother John (Diane) Shipley, and in-laws Mary Margaret (Robin) Ritz, Ellen (Peter) Strobel, Martin (Adrienne) Laufer, and Lisa (William) Moeller. He will also be missed dearly by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Edward and Mary Shipley as well as his parents-in-law, David and Mary Laufer.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Friday, June 26th from 3-7 at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Due to current circumstances, the funeral will be held privately by the family. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edward’s name to the Herschell Carrousel Museum or the Salvation Army, whose causes were dear to his heart.
