Obituary of Kathleen D. Murphy
Kathleen D. Murphy, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, went home to be with our Lord on May 26, 2020. Born August 3, 1949 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late George W. Smith M.D. and Harriet Smith-Tibbits of Hartland, NY.
As a youth, Kathy was an avid member of the Niagara County 4H Club with her prized goat Nancy. Aside from her love of animals, she enjoyed gardening, camping, the smell of a crisp fall day, and boating along the Susquehanna River. Kathy took great pride in preparing holiday meals and treats for her family and friends. Her encouragement, wisdom, laughter and giving spirit will be missed by all that were blessed to have known her. She lives on in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Kathleen walked hand in hand, side by side with her surviving beloved husband and best friend David L. Murphy of Lewisburg, PA. Additionally, she is survived by her children Reneé Mattiuzzo of Lockport, NY, Ryan (Donna) Kleinhans of Lockport, NY, Peter (Rene) Kleinhans of Apex, NC, step-daughter Tonya (Richie) Patrum of Navarre, FL; grandchildren Brittany, Andrew, Madison, Nicholas, Benjamin, Jaden, and Logan; sister JoAnn (James) Harley of Annville, PA as well as several nieces and nephews and her rescue dog Scout. She is predeceased by her brother George (Linda) Smith of Medina, NY.
Private funeral services will be held at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home in Lockport. Interment will be at Hartland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Kathleen’s life and her love of animals may be made to the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA at www.humanesociety.org / www.aspca.org .
