Ezra,
Just saw your Dad's obituary. With the hope that this will still reach you and that it offers more comfort than causes renewed pain, I would like to express my sympathy to you and your family. My heart goes out to you to lose your father at such a young age and at a time when we were isolated. I am sorry for the suffering he must have endured with his disease and that I never came to know him, though he clearly lives on in his family and all those he touched. Undoubtedly, he was very proud of you.
Offering prayers of gratitude and for solace,
Liz

Huston D. Staley posted a condolence
Friday, May 29, 2020
Sharon, Afi and Ezra, we as part of the Staley family located in Cincinnati Ohio, send you all our heartfelt condolences. I know you miss him. And in the upcoming years I will miss those occasional long-distance conversations with Morris. In them we’d share so much: insights about family, our Faith, reminisce about our growing up, those summer visits as kids and anything else. One of the highlights in our kinship happened when my father, his uncle, initially went on dialysis. My dad resided in Alabama. Morris took the time to go down to help him make the needed adjustments to life on dialysis that was so unselfish of him. For that we are eternally grateful. We love you family. May The LORD bless you and keep you.
Huston D. & Theresa A. Staley and family.

Wayne Willis posted a condolence
Tuesday, May 26, 2020
My name is Wayne Willis and Dr. Staley was a mentor of mine during my time as a UB student. We had countless discussions about music, politics, and race. I remember his gruff laugh, and how I used to make him laugh by imitating that gruff laugh. I’ll never forget his kindness, and most of all his patience. As a young person starting to come into a better knowledge of himself, at first it’s very easy to overdo your expressions of the new knowledge you’ve found. Your language, your speech, your thought process, your writing....all of these things can become more assertive and hyper-expressed because you now want to “fight that powers that be” for pulling the wool over your eyes for so long. Smh. Dr. Staley was there for me through my period of this as I was employed part time at Cora P. Maloney College. We used to have deep discussions almost everyday. And what I have always remembered him for and will continue to remember him for is his great patience with me throughout that stage of my development. That entire system of Cora P. Maloney College and CSTEP provided a foundation of support for it’s students where the things we learned and experienced figure largely in our value system to this very day. I always look back with fondness on my days with Rowena Adams, Verdia Jenkins, Letitia Thomas, Curtis Hamm, Shana Crump, Tia, Drexel Gidney, and of course.....Dr. Staley. I thank God for his life. I thank God for the time we were able to spend together. The magnitude of his contribution to the lives of those students he touched cannot be measured. Thank you for everything Dr. Staley. I wish I could imitate your laugh and make you laugh just one last time. Rest in eternal peace old friend. Love always, Wayne.

To my dear friend, mentor, leader, teacher, scholar, educator, father figure (Papa Smurf), and former Headmaster of Cora P. Maloney College (CPMC) at the University at Buffalo, Dr. John M. Staley, Ph.D. My dearest condolences to you and your entire family and friends. You and your spirit is at peace now in heaven knowing that you are probably discussing philosophy and the meaning of life with GOD/Allah. Message from his daughter in quotation, "Dr. Staley greatly and humbly loves the time he spent with you all. He's proud of your accomplishments...Blessings". Blessings to all during these trying and difficult times. Be safe, kind, respectful, loving, faithful, joyful and prayerful to one another. Thank you so much Dr. John Morris Staley, Ph.D for being a true inspiration, a sounding/listening ear and providing countless advice to me and many others (i.e., students, faculty, friends, family, staff, etc.) who lives you have touched. Again, my dearest condolences to Dr. Staley and his entire family and friends. You will be surely missed forever and I will keep the wonderful memories and talks we shared together. May you rest in peace and glory with GOD/Allah and love ones forever. Love Always, Morris (Mo), former student at the University at Buffalo (SUNY).
PS: Ironically, we both share the same name, Morris, and are extremely passionate about equity/equality/justice for all and the love of various genres of music and the arts. Hopefully, I can continue to carry on your legacy in both our name. Love Always, Morris
