Obituary of Ignazio Barrancotto

Ignazio "Nashe" Barrancotto passed away January 17, 2011 after a year long battle with Leukemia in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Buffalo. "Nashe" was born June 10, 1927 in Lockport, the son of the late Charles and Ida Annalora Barrancotto. After graduating from Lockport High School he served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. After his service time he was the manager of Niagara Sporting Goods for 40 years. He was very civic minded and supported all sports in Lockport and the area. "Nashe" was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lockport Lion's Club, YMCA and the business manager of the Lockport Reds of the PONY League. He loved the New York Yankee's and ran several excursions to Toronto to see them play.
He is survived by his dear friend Mary Lou Taylor; father of Lynne Marie (Darrell) Walker of St. Simon, GA, Suzanne Tina Vizzini of Orchard Park and Nashe David (Deborah Ann) Barrancotto of Gates Mills, Ohio; grandfather of Marshall, Matthew, Mikael Walker, Ashley Vizzini and Dylan Barrancotto. He is also the brother of Phill (Dorothy) Barrancotta of Lockport, Donald (Donna) Barrancotta of Newfane and the late Virginia Hughes, Salvatore, Thomas, Vincent Barrancotta and Anita Hanson; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday and Friday 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the First Baptist Church, 140 Genesee St., Lockport. Interment will be in Huskey Cemetery.
