Obituary of Lawrence Brown

Lawrence R. Brown, Sr. passed away Monday January 17, 2011 in Niagara Hospice House. Born February 5, 1938 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Berenice C. Rey Brown. After graduating from high school Larry joined the Air Force in 1955 and served for four years two of which were in Japan. Upon his return from service he joined the Lockport Fire Department, serving with pride for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He also owned and operated L.R. Brown Wine and Liquor Store in Wrights Corners. "Larry" was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Western New York Retired Firefighters Association, Lockport Council Knights of Columbus, Retiree Social Club Local I.A.F.F. and the Western New York Retired Fire Fighters Association; he also served for 12 years as president of the Local Firefighters Union. In his spare time Larry enjoyed time with his family.
He is survived by his "Bride" of 50 years Francesca Carbonara Brown; father of Charlene (Suzanne), Lawrence Jr. (Bridget) and Adam (Catherine) Brown; grandfather of Aaron C., Joshua N., Aidan and Audrey Elizabeth Brown. He also was the brother of Sheila K. (William) Lowery and the late Kenneth J. Brown.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Thursday 4 to 7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where prayers will be offered Friday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock in St. John the Baptist R.C.
