Obituary of John Brechue Jr
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Thomas Brechue, Jr., was born in Lockport on the sunny summer day of June 13, 1959 and was called to rest on the glorious spring day of April 30, 2020. The birth and death of this great man, however, is not nearly as relevant as all the days that he lived to the fullest between those dates.
His loving parents, John and Mary (Mayer) Brechue, Sr., preceded him in death. They had their hands full with their second son, but he always felt their love and support.
John grew up going through the Catholic school system in Lockport, which culminated with his graduation from DeSales in 1977. He had tremendous athletic ability, excelling in wrestling and football. John loved to win, and he loved to tackle. Following graduation John began work with Laborers Local 91 until sustaining a major injury in 1994; he remained active within the Teamsters. He was proud of being a blue-collar guy.
John truly enjoyed watching his children, granddaughter, nieces and nephews as they played sports, performed at dance and music recitals, and engaged in activities of all kinds. He had a big heart, a vivacious laugh, and was not afraid to speak his mind (often quite colorfully). He could often be found helping out family members as well as friends and neighbors; shoveling snow and household upgrades will now fall to others. He was a construction craftsman, a bbq pit master, and camper extraordinaire.
Left behind to carry on John’s legacy: his son Austin Brechue of Kenosha, WI, daughter Danielle (Justin) White of Lockport, and granddaughter Ashlynn Norton of Middleport. He was brother to William (Denise) Brechue of Kirksville, MO; Brian (Amy) Brechue of Mumford, NY; Theresa Brechue of Asheboro, NC; Robert (Sandra) Brechue of Lockport, and Elizabeth (Timothy) Crowl of Hebron, CT. And, in his opinion, the best and favorite uncle to Erin Brechue, Nicole (Damian) Oliver, Michelle (Mauro) Guzman, Matthew Brechue, Justine (Ravi) Patel, Brandon Brechue, Tyler Brechue, Allison Crowl and Andrew Crowl.
Arrangements are being handled by Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home; interment is at Cold Springs Cemetery. A public memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date once gathering restrictions are lifted. John would prefer that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to the ALS Association in his name. He lived a full life, albeit a shorter one than planned. His final request is for you to order pizza and wings, drink a beer, and remember him while enjoying time with family and friends.
