Obituary of Helen M. Coleman

Helen M. Coleman, born December 8, 1930 in Lockport, passed away March 9, 2020 in Buffalo General Medical Center. She was the daughter of Carl O. and Elizabeth G. (Ryan) MacDonald. Helen graduated from St. Joseph Academy and attended Canisius College and graduated from Sisters of Charity Hospital School of Nursing with high honors. She worked at the former Lockport Memorial Hospital and for several local physicians, retiring in 2003. Helen married John C. Coleman, Jr. on April 18, 1953 at St. Mary’s Church in Lockport. He predeceased her October 16, 2019. She was a longtime volunteer at LMH Ambulatory Care Center, member of LAOH, the American Legion, and All Saints Parish. Helen enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and having coffee with her friends. Helen is survived by her children Daniel J. of Lockport, Timothy C. of Clearwater, Florida and Mary Ellen (Mark) McArdle of Rochester, NY; siblings Robert (Dawn) MacDonald, Carol (late William) Davin, Katherine (late John) Lange, Dennis (Roberta) MacDonald, Rita (Thomas) Heary, and late, Charles (Late Betty) MacDonald; also several nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 13th at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
