Obituary of Dee Morotchie

Dee Biernacki Morotchie passed away January 9, 2020 surrounded by family at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Born August 28, 1948 in Lockport she was the daughter of John J. and Lota (Blonkowski) Biernacki. Dee was a teacher at Royalton Hartland Central School District for 20 years. After her retirement from teaching, she began a second career as a Labor Relations Specialist with New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) until her retirement in 2011. Dee was an active member of Lockport College Women’s Club and the Kenan Arts Council. She enjoyed traveling, sailing, dinner with friends, was a shopaholic, and loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. Dee is survived by her two loving daughters Jill (Nicolas) Atencio and Cristi (William) Wedgwood; cherished grandchildren Alexander, Evan, Grace Atencio, and Morgan Wedgwood; loving sister Ann (late David) O'Byrne; caring nieces and nephew Amy Mahoney, Kelli King, and Ryan O'Byrne. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, January 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, NY. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 16th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
