Obituary of Alexander Mastroianni
Alexander J. Mastroianni passed away November 13, 2019 in Niagara Hospice House. Born October 26, 1942 in Monogahela, PA he was the son of John and Josephine (Mele) Mastroiani. Alex earned his Masters degree of Science and worked in the early 1960’s to the mid 70’s for Paradise Construction and HGR Construction. He then worked for the Lockport School District for 35 years retiring in 1999. Alex started at North Park Junior High School where he was a math teacher for 17 years before moving to Lockport High School for 18 years. He was the Math Department Chair, the 9th grade class advisor, served as treasurer of Lockport Education Association (LEA), worked on special projects for NSA, and helped develop a program for graphing calculators and traveled across the USA to train and promote the program. Alex was the first person at Lockport High School to have the yearbook dedicated to. After retiring from education, he worked from 1999-2014 for H&R Block where he was a tax consultant and was office manager for 1 year. Alex enjoyed golfing, hunting, reading, gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alex is survived by his wife Andrea (Drotos) Mastroianni; children Joni (David) Owens of LaPlata, MD and Lee (Lori) Mastroianni of Herndon, VA; grandchildren Jennifer Johnson, Kellie Johnson, Gage Mastroianni, and Stella Mastroianni; great grandchild Cameron Kirk; siblings Giovanna Zanardelli and John (Donna) Mastroianni; also several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday November 22nd at 10 AM, at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport.
