Obituary of Charlotte Brittin
Charlotte Louise (McLoughlin) Brittin, age 94, a life-long resident of Lockport, NY, passed away in her sleep on October 11, 2019, in Lockport, NY. Charlotte was born on August 30, 1925 in Lockport, NY, to William and Laura McLoughlin. Charlotte attended Lockport Senior High School before meeting her husband Arthur R. Brittin. Art and Charlotte were married at St. Patrick’s Church, Lockport, NY, on April 17, 1948. After the wedding, the young couple built their home on Outwater Drive where Charlotte lived until 2013 (Charlotte lived in Lockport’s “North-End” for 86 years). She was employed as a matron with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department. Charlotte was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s (All Saints) Catholic Church. She was also an active member of the knitting group at St. John’s.
Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, William McLoughlin and Laura (Flashaar) McLoughlin, her husband, Arthur R. Brittin, her daughter Rebecca (Robert) Fox, and her sisters, Florence Caisse, Rachel V. McLoughlin, Jane O’Connor and Mary Alice Douglas. Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane (Jeffrey) Mathews and Barbara (Mark) Leichtnam; six grandchildren, Kevin (Rachel) Mathews, Timothy Mathews, Randall Mathews, Jeffrey (Hilary) Leichtnam, Laura (Joseph) Scapelliti, and Cameron Fox; and five great-grandchildren, William and Charlotte Leichtnam, Sydney and Joseph Scapelliti, and Evelyn Mathews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 15 from 4pm – 7 pm at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. On November 16 at 10am, a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Lockport, NY.
