Obituary of Leo Houseman

Leo H. Houseman, 95, passed away after a long illness December 6, 2010 in Medina Memorial Hospital. Born October 27, 1915 in Middleport he was the son of Howard and Marjorie (Kenyon) Houseman. Leo served in the US Navy during WW II as a Pharmacist Mate. He was a funeral director for 65 years, he worked for several funeral homes before opening his first funeral home in Knowlesville, NY. He relocated in the early 60's to Medina, NY and opened Houseman Funeral Home which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2004. Leo was a member of the Houseman-Tanner Post #1603 American Legion, Lincoln Post V.F.W. #1483 and the #336 F & AM, he also was involved in pony racing and belonged to the Pony Trotting Association. He was predeceased by his wife Ann (Pollock) Houseman on March 19, 2002.
Leo is the step-father of Chi Chi (Donald) Depkoske, Tom (Diane) Pegelow both of Middleport and the late Wally (Rita) Pegelow; also survived by seven step grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call Monday evening 6-7 PM in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (former St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church), Medina where funeral services will follow at 7 PM. Interment will be in Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndonville. Donations to the Houseman-Tanner American Legion, Lyndonville, NY or to PAWS, 3371 Gaines Basin Road, Albion, NY 14411-9063 would be appreciated.
