Obituary of Carol E. Hawkins

Carol E. Hawkins passed away August 22, 2019 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  Born August 13, 1940 in Lockport she was the daughter of Eugene and Elizabeth (Donner) Spoor.  Carol was a 1958 graduate from Starpoint High School and worked for Harrison Radiator Div of GM in Lockport, working there for 27 years and retiring in 1990.  She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends at her cottage on Wolfe Island, knitting, volunteering in Palmetto, Florida where she and her husband reside, hosting Christmas, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, whom she met when they were 5 years old, Donald Hawkins, marrying February 28, 1959 on Wolfe Island, Ontario.  She is also survived by her children Deborah (Pat Kerns) Armstrong, Kevin (Melissa) Hawkins, Lisa Wapen, Tish (David) Klein, and Cissy (David) Marotta; grandchildren David Armstrong, Ashley Klein, Bethany Hawkins, Kyle Hawkins, Morgan Marotta, Kati Marotta, and Lacey LeViere; sisters Norma (late Karl) Baudendistle, Marjorie (late Rodger) Schmidt, and late Shirley (Neil) Miller; also several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, August 26th from 5-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 27th at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.  Memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation of WNY, 4444 Bryant and Stratton Way, Williamsville, NY 14221 or at www.kfwny.org to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org would be appreciated by the family.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
