Obituary of James H. Johnston
James H. Johnston passed away on June 30, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on March 11, 1928 in Lockport, NY a son of the late Daniel and Clara (Baudendistel) Johnston.
Jim was an Electrical Engineer for Bell Aerospace retiring in 1997. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Niagara Frontier Technical Association and the Niagara County Chess Club. Jim was a self- taught musician playing the piano, violin, and accordion. He loved to sail, hike in the Adirondacks but most of all spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife Virginia (Schwach) Johnston, children Maureen (Edward) Turkowski, Diane (Mark) DeCracker, Elaine (Thomas) Brady, Martin Johnston, Daniel Johnston, grandchildren Jocelyn, Alexandra, Jessica, Colleen, Hannah, Laura, Molly, Andrew, Adam; great grandchildren Anderson, Callan, Briana, Emerson, sisters-in-law Elve Johnston, Mary Clare Knoble, Sr. Claire Schwach, brother-in-law Jerry Schwach. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his siblings Jane (Bud) Williams, Bettie (George) Lennon, Daniel Johnston.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday July 8 from 3-7PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home 242 Genesee St. Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday July 9 at 10 AM in All Saints Parish. Internment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorial donations to DeSales Catholic School 6914 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
