Obituary of Helene R. Lee

Helene Rose Lee (nee Cieplinski) passed away June 29, 2019 at Brothers of Mercy.  Born in Buffalo February 16, 1928 she was the daughter of John and Estelle Cieplinski.  Helene was a librarian, author and writer.  Helene co-authored a book titled “Bittersweet Decision” and a natural foods cook book.  She wrote numerous “flash fiction” short stories, non-fiction books and numerous newspaper and magazine editorials and articles. She was instrumental in promoting the local Lockport writers group “The Write Touch” from its inception. She enjoyed sharing her love of writing with others.

Helene was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard F. Lee and daughter Janice Lee.

Helene is survived by her loving children Kathleen (Gary) Walker, Keith (Kathryn) Lee, Margaret (Richard) Newton, and Judith (Jerome) Rutowski; and was the dearest grandmother to nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; beloved sister Diane Streller and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 2nd from 2PM-4PM and 7PM -9PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 3rd at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
